The Lord has designed us in such a way that we need continual supplies of food to preserve our existence. Why? Surely, it must be to teach us to depend on Him. Seeing multitudes of people passing along the street, one may naturally think, “How have all these obtained their food today?” The answer is, “Through God's providence.” Some, indeed, use dishonest means to gain their living, being distrustful of this merciful providence. But if they only sought first His kingdom and righteousness, the heavenly Father would undoubtedly have fed them. Oh, the sins people are led to commit through lack of trust in God! They gamble, they steal, they lie, they forget the Lord's day, they sell liquors, and defiling books, and movies. They believe that if they wouldn't use these means, they would starve.
